Summer 2006: Pastoral Care Volunteers

For a long while, Nancy West , Siloam’s president/ CEO , has felt God’s call to recruit volunteer pastors and intercessors to be part of the Siloam team. This dream is materializing and pastors are providing about 25 hours of coverage weekly. They visit with patients in the waiting room, pray with patients in exam rooms and minister to the staff and volunteers. Four intercessors are also involved.

Comments from several members of this pastoral team:

I came to Siloam because Nancy West is a marvelous recruiter! I stayed because I love helping people in real need, and I found a community of volunteers who feel the same way. David Thornton, volunteer pastor (not pictured)

I look forward to every time I am privileged to serve at Siloam; it is the highlight of my week. I get to experience the love of Jesus being extended by our staff and see His love being received by those in need. I especially love to see our patients faces light up as they begin to sense the tangible grace that God has poured out at Siloam. Doug Mann, volunteer pastor

I am from a medical family, a family of faith, and am a son of an immigrant. I want to support this important work. Peter VanEys, volunteer pastor

“…I was a stranger and you invited me in…I was sick and you looked after me…Go and make disciples of all nations.” Since I first became acquainted with Siloam, those words of Christ have continued to invite and incite me to be an instrument of His love through this ministry, reaching out in His name to those for whom He has a special place in His great heart. Ed Goehner, volunteer pastor

I came with a Vietnamese patient. What keeps me coming back is that the purpose of Siloam is to touch so many lives – the wonderful ministry to the patients, and also the staff and volunteers! Ngoc Ha, volunteer pastor and Siloam board member
