Editor’s Note: A team of pharmacists rotate through the clinic each week to manage Siloam’s donated medications.  Starting last summer, Steve Mok and Quentin Minson began recruiting friends and colleagues to help monitor the medications contributed by pharmaceutical companies, Dispensary

of Hope and others.  This team also prepares medications for patients to pick up.  Siloam patients and staff are blessed by the faithful efforts of all of our pharmacists, and we want to introduce them to you.

Name:  Daniel C. Johnson, Pharm.D., BCPS

Profession:  Clinical Pharmacist, Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, Vanderbilt University Medical Center

What brought you to Siloam?  One of my coworkers introduced me to Siloam in November 2006.  I started volunteering as a way to use my professional skills to help people in need and serve God.

Church Affiliation:  Brentwood Hills Church of Christ

What keeps you coming back?  I enjoy volunteering at Siloam tremendously.  It is far more rewarding than anything that my job alone could provide.

Name:  Karla M. Miller, Pharm.D., BCPP

Profession:  Director of Medication Usage and Safety, Centennial Medical Center, HCA

Began Volunteering:  January 2007

What brought you to Siloam?  The mission of Siloam Family Health Center was a major factor.  I heard about the opportunity at Siloam from my colleagues, Steve Mok and Quentin Minson.

What keeps you coming back?  The patients and the staff at Siloam

Name:  Quentin Minson, Pharm. D.

Profession:  Pharmacist, formerly at Centennial Medical Center (moving to Oklahoma City for further training)

What brought you to Siloam?  I began volunteering in July 2006.  I had heard about a  clinic that was formed from a desire to help the underprivileged from around the world who had come to Nashville, and was run on Christian virtues and power.

What keeps you coming back?  Siloam is a wonderful clinic that provides medical care and love to a wide range of people in the community.  I have been very fortunate for the opportunity to be a part of this special place.

Name:  Steve Mok, Pharm.D., BCPS

Profession:  Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist at Centennial Medical Center

What brought you to Siloam?  My colleague Quentin Minson first got in touch with Karen Stevens in July 2006 and he asked me to come along and help.

Church Affiliation:  Rolling Hills Community Church

What keeps you coming back?  I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help out at Siloam.  Once I saw how we as pharmacists can help meet the needs of so many patients who do not have access to their medications, I knew right away this is how I could best serve and reach out to the needy in this community.  Not to mention, everyone is great to work with and I am so glad to be included in the many great plans God has for Siloam!

Name:   Nancy Scrugham, DPh, MBA

Profession:  Director of Pharmacy at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry

What brought you to Siloam?  I started at Siloam in March 2007.  I originally heard of the ministry through the Covenant Presbyterian Church Medical Missions Team.

What keeps you coming back?  The patients who need medications but cannot pay -- which is the same motivation I have at Nashville General.  I am glad to be serving in such a blessed and happy environment where Christ is served joyfully.
